Galway For a Democratic Europe Campaign

If the upcoming Lisbon treaty on October 2nd is passed the EU will become a federal state with an unelected president, foreign minister and a seat at the UN plus much more.

The simple question is do you want Ireland and the other countries of the EU to be regions or states in an undemocratic federal Europe with the EU deciding more and more of our laws? If the answer is YES then vote for the Lisbon treaty.

If your answer is NO then reject it and vote for to halt to the erosion of our Irish independence that of our European neighbours. The EU should be a group of independent countries working in close co-operation with each other. Where the direction and power for major changes comes directly from the people of Europe.

The Lisbon treaty is a repackaged and renamed EU constitution that was rejected by both the French and Dutch peoples in national referendums. The Lisbon treaty will gather up the powers gathered in recent treaties into legal personality, the personality of a federal state.

The EU project is out of control and is in need of rescuing, we are told we will be isolated if we vote NO, this is the same threat and lie the people of France and Holland were told 2 years ago. If Ireland votes NO we will have protected our Independence while protecting the independence of every country in Europe from this dishonest power grab.

Galway has a chronic traffic problem, the main hospital will be closed for August to save money, last year it was the city without water, now we are asked by the same ineffective public representatives responsible for this to trust them and hand even more power to the EU so an undemocratic federal state can be created. This treaty is an attack on democracy and an attack on the people of Europe. We owe it to ourselves and all the peoples of Europe to reject it.

A no vote by the people of Ireland will not cause a crisis in Europe, a no vote is a cure which will rescue the EU project and it’s people – Vote NO.
